Alec Rodriguez

Alec Rodriguez was born in Seattle, Washington in 2008. A native of the little town of Poulsbo, he began piano lessons at the local community center at five years of age with an old Goodwill piano. After 6 years of dedication, and a couple of piano upgrades for all that effort, he is now a student of Dr. Irene Bowling. He has an unquestionable love of all classical music and is energized by tackling new and more complex pieces although mom tries to sneak in a jazz request now and then. This year, as an 11-year-old, he is finishing up 6th grade at Poulsbo Middle School where his favorite subjects are Math and Art. Always a maze, puzzle and Lego fan when he was little, he now enjoys making intricate origami pieces that are hundreds of steps long that boggle his family’s minds. Alec also enjoys hiking around his beautiful big backyard known as the Pacific Northwest where he loves keeping an eagle eye out for amazing mycology and crazy weather!

Cyrus Yan

Cyrus Yan is 11 years old, and was born in Portland, Oregon.  He is a 6th grader at Sakai Intermediate School on Bainbridge Island.  He started to play the piano at the age of 5.  He is currently studying piano with Dr. Irene Bowling and previously with Dr. Jennifer Hammill. Cyrus enjoys playing the piano because it is a way to express himself through music.  When he is not practicing piano you will find him playing soccer, basketball, and hopefully playing with his friends after Covid-19 is over. Cyrus is grateful for the support of his piano teachers and the Bremerton West Sound Symphony for the opportunities to bring the joy of music to the public especially during this stressful time.
