Join Our Board of Directors

If you’re reading this, you are probably an individual who is passionate about local symphonic music and music education. So might you be interested in membership on our Board of Directors? We are looking for prospective members who can volunteer time, resources, and community connections in contribution to our mission. 

Members of our board are engaged and high-performing; we seek other music lovers (though not necessarily musicians) like ourselves: We have a strong commitment to diversity, equity, and inclusion. We provide support, community enjoyment and performance of music through governance of our large association, strategic planning, fundraising, and outreach. 

Each director will possess the following qualities and capabilities:

• Commitment to the Bremerton Symphony Association's Mission: A genuine interest in our mission, vision, and values.

• Collaborative Spirit: Willingness to be a team player and an empathetic, thoughtful listener.

• Expertise: Knowledge and skills in one or more areas of board governance, such as finance, legal, fundraising, strategic planning, governance, education, or personnel.

• Term Commitment: Willingness to commit to three years of board service.

• Active Participation: Willingness to serve on at least one committee and be an active participant.

• Dependability: Willingness to take on assignments and follow through to a timely completion.

• Time Commitment: Willingness to commit time for monthly board meetings, committee meetings, performances, and special events (10-20 hours per quarter).

• Fundraising Involvement: Willingness to participate in the Bremerton Symphony Association’s fundraising efforts.

• Advocacy and Networking: Willingness to use your networks and connections to promote the organization's purpose and agenda.
