Annual Appeal
Dear Friends of the Symphony,
Thank you for continuing to join us on our musical journey as we celebrate the 82nd season of music for the Bremerton WestSound Symphony. We were grateful to share our season opener, The Titan with over 300 of our friends and neighbors at the stunning Central Kitsap Performing Arts Center in October. Under the baton of Maestro Alan Futterman, the orchestra continues to achieve new artistic heights with each performance. Our November concert Women of Note explores works from four great female composers of the Romantic era including Clara Schumann’s virtuosic Piano Concerto. Be sure to join us at our Holiday Happenings concert featuring excerpts from Tchaikovsky’s "Nutcracker Suite", Poulenc’s Gloria and a selection of choruses from Handel’s "Messiah".
We will continue our season of exceptional and brilliant live music with four more concerts in March, May and June with a very special May standalone concert Light performed by our wonderful Symphony Chorale under the direction of LeeAnne Campos. Also, throughout the season there will be community opportunities to enjoy our talented Youth Jazz ensemble directed by Derick Polk.
Our impact in the community goes far beyond these mainstage concerts, with education programs that reach thousands of young people. We will present the annual OrKIDstra program at Bremerton High School which will feature a musical performance of Munro Leaf’s Ferdinand the Bull. Schools from around the region have already registered for hundreds of free tickets at one of our two school-day shows, and marketing will begin in the new year for families to attend a weekend matinee performance.
We foster gifted musical students each year with an adjudicated Young Artists competition with cash prizes, opportunities for top winners to perform with our orchestra, and the competitors’ very own concert Rising Stars Showcase. This mix of performance and educational opportunities is only possible with ongoing support from community members like you. Your vital sustaining generosity allows us to fulfill our mission to unite and enrich our West Sound community and share our passion for music.
Now is the perfect opportunity for you to join our dozens of individual and business donors by making a one-time or recurring donation to the Bremerton WestSound Symphony.
With your support we will continue to inspire, engage, and educate our community through classical music. Thank you for helping us make a more connected, flourishing community through the arts.
Yours in music,
Tom Jacobs, President
